Starting Monday, February 1st through Friday, February 26th, Avery PTA is holding a Read-A-Thon fundraiser! This activity will encourage reading, while generating income for Avery PTA to purchase new Chromebooks for the school. Our purpose is to create a fun atmosphere that encourages students to read and fosters their love of reading.
This year’s Read-A-Thon is our only major fundraiser. This event is targeted to students, teachers, parents, and the community. Your student’s reading efforts will make a difference for Avery and ultimately make an impact on their learning success. With support from family, friends, and neighbors as sponsors, we hope each student will raise a
minimum of $25 to meet our goal of $15,000. A sample letter asking for a donation or sponsorship for reading minutes is included. We think you will be impressed by how many people are willing to donate money encouraging a child to read! Your child can start seeking donations or sponsors and collecting pledges now.

The Read-A-Thon is designed for all grade levels. For those children who are not yet independent readers, please count the minutes someone reads to them and/or the time your child spends describing pictures in books.
How can you help? Support your child(ren) by suggesting sponsors, encouraging your child to read, assisting them in recording their minutes read on the Reading Log, adding up their totals, and by overseeing their collection of donations. We are accepting donations online at
